Summer Traveling Fool
I came home from a week at the shore yesterday. It was relaxing and wonderful.
In July, my son and I are going on quite an adventure. We'll be heading to Orlando for a few days, then driving up to South Carolina. We'll make a pit stop in Hilton Head, and then move on to Myrtle Beach! It will be a fun-filled trip, and a long one. When it's all said and done, it will be about 2 weeks long.
The thing is, I'm looking at booking a small midweek August trip. We've been going to Wildwood for our small August trip for the last 3 years, but this year, we're thinking of doing something a little different. The problem is, he's more excited than I am for the place we talked about.
I decided I couldn't possible do 3 days at the lake where we'd be going. I'm an ocean girl, sorry...no waves, little fun for me, unless there's a jet ski involved. Anyway, I did some digging, and there are some neat little places we can go. I'm thinking I can stretch out the trip between a few places. Drive up to the main place, then on the drive back, stop at 2 destinations for some fun in the sun.
With gas prices, I'm trying to decide if it's cheaper to hit Wildwood, which is a great, busy family spot, or drive up. When it comes down to what I'll be spending at both, including hotels, entertainment, and such, it pretty much equals out. I could check all the market research in the world, but when it comes down to it, I know he really wants to go to this one spot. I'll give in and end up going. I'm sure I'll have a good time, once we get going. It's just not on the top of the list of "where I want to go".
On the other hand, he's a teen, and he'll be getting a summer job soon enough, and having time for mom will be a thing of the past. I guess that decides it for me! Man, time passes too quickly.
