Surviving NJ

I went down to see my friend Suni today. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew I enjoyed talking to her online. We both live in New Jersey, but a little over 2 hours apart. I headed out in the late morning, and it took me about 2 hours and 15 minutes to get there. I met her with a hug and got to meet her adorable son. Suni's son! heehhehe...

Anyway, I called her when I was about 15 minutes away, and the first thing I noticed was her voice. I realized I'd been talking to her daily, but I hadn't ever heard her voice before.  I guess it's always figuring out someone for the first time in person, but right away, I felt comfortable. I think we're both on a similar wavelength on meeting new people, and it seemed to do us well.

Her son is a piece of work, very sweet and friendly. As I sat there talking to my friend, in person, I knew I liked her even more than I did when I spoke with her online. I felt like we connected, and knew we could have been regular friends if we had lived closer to each other. Suni is real. Suni is who she is, and I'm the same way, and it immediately put me at ease. I knew leaving today that something really nice happened today, and I knew that this girl, the one I talk to regularly online, but finally met in person, is someone I'll continue to keep as a friend for a long time.

I adored her even more in person, and hope she came away from today feeling that same thought.

When it comes to meeting people, I'm always a little off sometimes, because I feel like I might be a burden to their day, or do they really want to meet me. It's my own insecurities, but I knew today that we were of similar cloth...and I'm really glad I took the drive over. It was a wonderful experience. I tend to get so nervous, and yet nerves left me alone today, and just let me be who I am.
