Growing My Mind and Options
I'm participating in a writing project over at Problogger.net, and had to sit and think about what I wanted to say in this post. Problogger.net is a great place for blogging information and I've been a reader for awhile now. These writing projects really get me to think, and this time the option was to talk about predictions or review something having to do with well....anything. Here's where this leads me:
During the last year a lot has happened and becoming ill during December 2005 gave me a lot of spare time on my hands. I went through numerous issues like mono to shingles to bronchitis and more one after the other, and I finally stopped working regularly outside of the home in March as I was still ill, and didn't find myself coming clear of problem until late spring, early summer. A year has passed and I still am home now, but what has changed is the amount of opportunities I was able to find and the way I was able to reach out in more directions.
In the last year, I've written three books, two which can be found at SkinCareStudent.com and a New Jersey book which talks about things to do while in NJ. I've wrriten more than 60 articles over at Associated Content, as well as kept up with multiple blogs and created income through word-of-mouth buzz. Doing all of this has unlocked two things for me: income I didn't know existed, and a sense of accomplishment. While I sat home feeling tired and beaten down, I found a way to lift myself up and feel useful and worthy. I felt a way to let my words make a difference to students who were now purchasing my book while in esthetic's school. Just as much so, I am happy when people comment on my blogs to say, "Hey, me too!"
If I were to look back and review what this year has taught me, it's that even when you're down...it doesn't mean your out of the game completely. Finding other ways to create and capture income has helped me feel good, even while I was feeling bad.
It's December once again, and I've had two health related issues come up all ready, and while a bladder infection and a flu might have me feeling like I'm about to go another round with the merry-go-round-health-cycle, I'll know that I have options to keep me busy regardless of what confronts me this time.
If you'd like to enter the Problogger.net writing project and have the chance to win prizes and participate in a huge project, head over to Problogger.net for all the rules and get writing!

Hi Deb, have you considered incorporating some light yoga into your daily routine? I've been going through various ailments myself and it really has done wonders for my body.
Illness aside, it sounds as if you've had an extremely productive year. You are definitely an inspiration and role model for me! I'd love to hear more about your writing ventures.

I found you on the ProBlogger predictions and review list.
Cheers,

Great post, very inspiring. I hope your health improves in 2007 as much as it sounds like your spirit improved in 2006. Congratulations on the books.
As a fellow NJ blogger, I think I'm going to have to check out your NJ book.
